Our objective is to promote and uphold evidence-based surgical practices aligned with national, regional, and global standards, represent the interests of South Sudanese surgeons, and support scientific publications and research in surgical specialties across South Sudan.

The Association of Surgeons of South Sudan (ASOSS) was established on September 25th 2017 by a pioneering group of dedicated South Sudanese surgeons who recognized the urgent need to unify and strengthen the surgical profession in the country. Amidst the challenges of a post-conflict health system, the founding members came together with a shared vision: to promote excellence in surgical care, training, and research, and to advocate for the needs of surgeons and their patients across South Sudan. ASOSS was formed as a professional, non-political, non-profit body to provide a collaborative platform for surgeons of all specialties. Its creation marked a significant step in building surgical capacity, fostering continuous professional development, and supporting the integration of surgical services into national health priorities. Since its founding, the Association has worked to strengthen partnerships with regional and international surgical bodies, contribute to national health policy discussions, and improve access to safe, timely and affordable surgical care for all South Sudanese. ; .
